What are shears and what were they used for?

Shearing shears are made of a single piece of bent iron with a spring handle, equipped with flattened and sharpened ends on the inside edge. The blades of the shears in their natural position are open, while when the person holding them applies pressure on the handle, causing them to close and reopen, they touch each other and therefore maintain the edge (first closing point: towards the handle, last closing points: towards the tips).
The shears were used to shear sheep and had a small defect, that is, they were equipped with very sharp tips that could injure the animals. To overcome this inconvenience and reduce the possibility of injury, the animals were immobilized.
The shears were later replaced by manual clippers and later by electric clippers.
