The hoof scraper, also called a spatula or scraper, is a tool with a particular shape, used in the past. It was used to level the hoof or nail by removing the bulk of the horny layer. It consists of an iron blade in the shape of a spatula with raised edges and a curved arm fixed to a wooden handle, on which the blacksmith struck with the hammer.
