Why do cows wear bells?
Cows are equipped with bells especially when they are grazing, because it is thanks to their sound that the farmer can locate them in large spaces. In addition to this reason, it was said that the sound of the bells kept vipers away. However, there are not only practical purposes behind the use of bells: in fact, for farmers they represent an ornament for the cow, a source of pride and, in popular belief, a lucky charm.
