The cowbells were produced partly by local craftsmen or by Ticino workshops, such as Tenconi in Airolo, which was very renowned for this type of production, and partly by workshops operating outside the borders of Ticino (German Switzerland or Italy).
Even today there are companies specialized in their production, such as Forge du Camp, in the Vaud Jura.
