Is it true that bees die after stinging?
The stinger is made up of backward-facing hooks, and when the bee stings a mammal, the elastic skin of the mammal holds it in place. When the bee tries to pull it out, it tears out part of its intestine, and dies as a result. This does not happen when bees sting the rigid exoskeletons of other bees or insects.
