What is "the bugno" and what was it used for?
The bugno is an archaic form of hive (with fixed combs), built in straw, wicker or wood. The oldest hives were made from pieces of tree trunks hollowed out inside and stripped of bark, then closed at the top and left open at the bottom, crossed inside by wooden slats that helped the bees build the combs.
