What is crop rotation?
Crop rotation is an agricultural practice aimed at maximizing food production by improving soil health, preventing nutrient depletion, and increasing crop yields in the long term. It consists of alternating periods in which a field is left fallow, i.e. uncultivated or used for grazing livestock, with periods in which it is actively cultivated. This cycle of alternation can vary according to the geographic region and the type of crop, with rotations that can be biennial, triennial, quadrennial, etc.
