The waste from silk processing is the silk waste and less valuable cocoons. They were used to produce various types of products, including blankets: made of silk waste (from strüsa) or "filugello", the silk obtained from less valuable cocoons. These blankets, often dyed yellow, were very common especially in the Mendrisiotto and Lugano areas.
