The rotating reel is a tool consisting of a base on which a wooden cross is attached, which rotates on a horizontal axis thanks to the action of a crank. At the ends of the arms of the cross are placed wooden boards perpendicularly. The rotating reel was used to unwind the thread from the spindle or shuttle and rewind it into skeins. One end of the thread was in fact fixed on the reel, which by rotating unwound it from the spindle or shuttle to rewind it onto the horizontal boards of the reel creating the skein.
